(TRAINS)
A set of 6 albums with approximately 188 photographs of locomotives, primarily in the Northeast corridor, but also Ohio.
The albums show a series of well-captioned and documented imagery, including trains in New York City and along Hudson River towns, Boston and the Boston area, and Ohio. Captured with great plumes of smoke, with passengers getting on and off, the occasional operator or conductor, speeding by, in stations, and "posing" on the tracks in order to highlight their design and engines. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 5x7 inches (12.7x17.8 cm.), the sheets slightly larger, and the reverse, cornered into the pages, each with a Rail Photo Service hand stamp (sometimes with a photographer's credit) and most with additional caption notations, in pencil, on verso, and many with either a typed caption label or some with a small handwritten label on the pages below the photographs. Oblong 8vos, patterned boards; ties. 1940s-early 50s
